Frost Free Library Trustee Minutes April 12, 2008 Frost Free Library, Marlborough, NH In attendance: Molly Badrawy, John Northcott, Gina Paight, Rufus Frost, Jackie Leahy and Director Kathleen Ash. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Molly Badrawy at 8:35 a.m. Secretary's Report-Rufus Frost moved to accept the Minutes from the March 8, 2008 meeting as printed. Seconded by John Northcott. Vote was unanimous. Treasurer's Report-Jackie Leahy informed the Board of financial activity in the past month. Rufus Frost moved to accept the treasurer's report. Seconded by John Northcott. Vote was unanimous. Director's Report-Kathleen Ash informed the board of recent activity at the library. Bob Hill of Hill Specialty Networks has installed the new server. The library's anti-virus software had expired, so a trial version was installed. The recommended software would be $200 for a two year subscription. Rufus Frost moved to purchase the two year anti-virus software package. Seconded by Molly Badrawy. Vote was unanimous. Kathleen stated they were having problems with the vacuum cleaner. After discussion, Gina Paight moved to allow the director to purchase a new Sears vacuum at a price not to exceed $400. Seconded by Jackie Leahy. Vote was unanimous. It was reported that a library patron had mechanical problems with a cd player after using a library cd and requested repair reimbursement. After discussion, John Northcott moved to decline compensation to patron. Seconded by Molly Badrawy. Vote was 5 yes, 1 abstaining vote. Rufus Frost moved to accept the director's report as presented. Seconded by John Northcott. Vote was unanimous. Building Committee Report-Rufus Frost commented that 2 of the 3 windows in the library had been replaced. He has contacted Guyer Roofing in regards to scheduling the installation of the metal roof on library. He is working with the Heritage Commission in obtaining a piece of granite to install at the edge of the library driveway to protect the sign lighting. He will be contacting Rick Giguere regarding the screen door and the electrical contractor in regards to the power wire under the driveway. Old Business-Molly informed the board that PSNH has agreed to pay for 50% of the replacement cove fixtures in the old portion of the library. Currently there are 4 high wattage fixtures, which have not worked properly for years. The total estimated cost was $3600. There was discussion regarding adequate lighting in the book stacks. Due to the high cost, the issue was tabled until the trustees can see the light levels in the evening hours themselves. New Business
