Kwa Heri Means Goodbye
Frost Free Library will host an author reading and signing on Wednesday September 17 at 7:00 pm. Dorothy Stephens will talk about and read from her book Kwa Heri Means Goodbye: Memories of Kenya 1957-1959. Stephens lived in Kenya with her husband and three children from 1957 to 1959. That experience had a tremendous impact on her, transforming her from a typical suburban housewife into a more courageous and adventurous woman-a woman determined to move ahead in new directions. Kenya is the country of origin of the father of presidential candidate Barack Obama. During her two year stay there, Stephens became acquainted with the emerging young leaders of Kenya's independence movement. Her book provides the background from which men of Obama Senior's generation came. Moreover, there has recently been a great deal of interest in Kenya because of the violence following last December's presidential election. Stephen's book provides a context for these events. Come hear Dorothy Stephens talk her experience and find out more about fascinating Kenya
